Here are the 5 Tip on using Twitter for Business (explained in more detail):

Try to tweet regularly; at least one a week or more, as the more you tweet the more followers you get! The more you tweet the more people will get to know you / your brand and the more likely they are to follow you. Tweeting regularly mean that you have more possibility of reaching more people as your tweets will come up on their homepages (otherwise known as news feeds). You can reach a larger audience if you tweet at different times of the day, and here's why - Timezones! Always try to bear time zones in mind when you are about to tweet. For example: If you live in the United Kingdom and post your tweet at 9am, your tweet will be long buried by time you US followers log on and check their Twitter accounts.

Always try to share worthwhile content that is not only interesting but engaging - people like to be offered value. This tip is interesting so I will make it the subject of my next article and video.

My biggest tip: make sure you have a custom branded Twitter backgammon and profile picture, these help to raise your brand awareness and makes you / your company look more professional. If you ask me I would say that having a picture of yourself smiling as your profile picture is 100% the best option. This is becasue people are more likely to follow an account which has a smiling person, they want to talk to a person instead of a corporate logo. Having your logo as your Twitter profile is perfectly acceptable though, especially if you are looking to really improve your brand online, so incorporate your logo into your custom Twitter background.

Share a link on your Twitter page to your website or your Facebook account, as these places are usually the hub of your web activity and this is where we want to be driving traffic. Entrepreneurs and small businesses often complain they they aren't getting anyone 'like' their Facebook fan pages; this isn't because they don't want to, it because they don't know! Try to promote / ask your followers to join your fan page at least once a week, persistence is key! The probability is that if people are following you they want to know about your business, so forward them to your opportunities!

And last but not least, use JustUnfollow.com to balance your following to followers ratio. JustUnfollow is a neat little site where you can view all of the people who aren't following you back, what's better is that it's free! I recommend this tool to everyone as you can unfollow people straight from the website meaning that it isn't a time consuming process - great for any business owner.
