Utilizing An Innovative Self-Defense Versus Assailants

By Gearld A Potlorck

One of my jobs being a self-defense coach is to educate rookie policemen in the use of protective tools just like batons, stun guns and also pepper spray. I specialize in teaching non-lethal submission techniques making use of these gadgets.

Initially, we used a standard kind of pepper spray that was in liquid form. We saw that a few of the excess spray can be wiped away to dampen the effect. To improve effectiveness, we began making use of Mace pepper gel in training.

Pepper spray is a non-lethal self-defense tool made to incapacitate an assailant. It does this by causing a painful burning experience in the eyes and also on the skin of anyone that it hits.

The effects of a defense spray are non permanent and last only up to 45 minutes. They do not cause any irreversible damage to an opponent although the effects should be powerful enough to give you time to escape an assailant and ask for help.

The gel pepper spray which I use is unique in that the pepper spray is suspended in gel. This gives it several noteworthy advantages. First, the pepper spray is more powerful because it is concentrated into a gel form.

Next, since it is a gel, the stream does not disperse, giving it a better range. The gel also sticks like glue to a target, making it hard to wipe off. Furthermore, there is no danger of it flying back into your face due to winds.

I specifically use one which contains 45 grams of spray. These are more than enough for 7 one-second-long bursts that can hit a target around 18 feet away. Moreover, it came with a special flip-top cap which was built to prevent accidental discharge.

All of my students have noted that they're pleased with the Mace pepper gel that I showed them and we learned with. In fact, it has proven to be equally as effective in the field as its regular, liquid-based version.
